Pure capitalism is self destructive. It is the haven of the robber baron. Pure communism relies on the altrusic person and they are very uncommon. It goes against human nature. The best government from society’s POV is the welfare state in which Capital supports social services (a communist concept). That is the direction all governments are moving toward.

This is actually why communism is not ideal – it doesn’t take into account the differences in drives and personal values. Capitalism values the individual *as* individual. Communism assumes that there will be no “freeloaders” – which is a big problem. In a capitalist economy, the freeloader will sink if he chooses not to work. communism and capitalism are just different systems of economy, so they’re tough to compare since we see the differences only from within a capitalist point of view; we can’t really get an accurate picture, also, because the communist system has never had any success. In a tiny community, communism is ideal — but once the community grows, it no longer works.
