She bought LifeSpring Nutrition, which makes frozen healthy meals for seniors, in 2003. Irvine businesswoman Susan Johnson, founder of Susan's Healthy Gourmet, has received the 2011 California Small Business Association Award for the 70th Assembly district.
The award was present during 2011 California Small Business Day, an event created by the state legislature in 2000 to celebrate the contributions of small-business owners. The event is put on in Sacramento by volunteer small-business groups statewide.

Susan Johnson and her company, Susans Healthy Gourmet, will be featured on CBS-TVs "48 Hours" in a segment scheduled to air on Friday, Feb. 27. The show will focus on the positive impact that the Irvine, Calif.-based companys healthy, calorie-controlled, gourmet meals have had on actor Wayne Knights waistline.
Knight, most notably known to fans as Newman on the "Seinfeld" show, lost 117 pounds over the past year. In previous interviews, including an article appearing in the December 5, 2003 issue of People Magazine, Knight cited Susans Healthy Gourmet food, along with an exercise program and support group, as the keys to his success.
"Helping people like Wayne to lose weight at a healthy rate, and keep it off, is our goal," said Susan Johnson.
