Metro officers arrest three men and recover two firearms
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan police arrested three men and charged them with breaking into a house on Little Neck Road last month and stealing eight firearms and two computers, a department spokeswoman said Friday.
Adrain Butler, Andrew Harvey and Joshua Jackson were charged with burglary and are being held in the Chatham County jail, said Gena Moore.
More charges are likely, she said, as the investigation continues.
According to police reports, the firearms taken included a .44-caliber Desert Eagle, a .357 Magnum Glock, a .45-caliber H & K, a 9-mm Sig Sauer, an AR-15 and a pump shotgun.
A Mac and a laptop were also listed as stolen, along with a Social Security card, a birth certificate, a car title, bank information and house finance documents.
Metro officers, with help from the ATF, investigated the case and have recovered two of the pistols and a shotgun, said Moore.
In addition, said Moore, the three men are suspected of a string of automobile break-ins and other crimes that cover at least three precincts and Thunderbolt.
Police search for two men wanted in sexual assault
Police are investigating the sexual assault of a woman by two men who drove up as she walked a neighborhood seeking cellphone reception early Friday morning.
Police say the 26-year-old woman was at a friend's residence off Fort Argyle Road about 2:30 a.m. and walked outside to find an area where her phone would receive a cell signal. She had reached Fort Argyle when a vehicle stopped and two men forced her to a wooded area.
They choked her and hit her in the mouth as she struggled and then sexually assaulted her until they heard a car approaching and ran. The victim was treated at a Savannah hospital for injuries received in the struggle.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the two men who were in a conversion van that is possibly tan in color. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
