SUSLA goes global
The agreement would allow Great Lakes University to offer associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees in poultry science that would help with the economic development for the region. SUSLA's Joseph Orban, professor of biomedical sciences and director of biomedical research development, would travel there to help with the curriculum. In exchange, SUSLA would have a partner in Kenya for future projects that would incorporate students and faculty. One of the topics that came to mind for possible collaboration was in the health care industry although there are no formal plans as of yet.Great Lakes Health Plan - News

The study is funded by an $8500 Great Lakes Innovative Stewardship through Education Network matching grant, and the conservancy is investing $2000 of its own funds in hopes of improving the region's water quality through the research.
Back in 2005, a coalition of US and Canadian government agencies, Indian tribes and other organizations unveiled an ambitious long-term, $20 billion plan to restore the lakes. Congress came through with $475 million in funding for the Great Lakes
in our community to lay out a game plan for the future of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence region. As much as it is a discussion, the summit will hopefully set the stage to ensure a climate of prosperity and health for our children and their children.
Evening concerts begin with the Air National Guard Band of the Great Lakes on June 30 at 7 pm in Pennsylvania Park, and continue every Friday night in July. In case of rain, concerts are held in Crooked Tree Arts Center's Ross Stoakes Theater.
Great Lakes Health Plan has a new behavioral health vendor
UBH has become the new behavioral healthcare vendor and affiliate company for GLHP effective 1/1/2011. GLHP began sending letters out to providers in December inviting them to participate in the UBH network. Courtesy par status with UBH will be extended to all GLHP providers until 3/31/2011.
